Kids' Camp
Our trained staff plan fun-filled days of crafts, indoor activities, outdoor games, lunch, and more all on the grounds. The camp is offered for children ages 3 and older from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday through Friday, Memorial Day through Labor Day Weekend.

Kids' Night Out
Friday nights from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm, children ages 8 and up can enjoy a night out on the town playing miniature golf, going to the movies, or bowling, with dinner included. Wednesdays and Saturdays from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm, children ages 3 and up will enjoy crafts, games, movies, and dinner on property. Kids' Night Out is available Memorial Day through Labor Day Weekend.

Monday Night Bonfire
Join us every Monday night from 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm for a night of roasting marshmallows by the fire. Be prepared to sing along to campfire songs, participate in playful skits and listen to stories. The bonfire is a great time to find out what events will be occurring during your stay. FREE.

Stories Under the Stars

Thursday evenings from 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm, children of all ages are invited to the Kids' Camp Room to enjoy stories told by authentic Appalachian storytellers. FREE.

Hiking
Guided nature hikes through Moses Cone Memorial Park. Call the Recreation Center for details, as times are flexible. FREE.

Whitewater Rafting Trips
Nothing is more invigorating and exciting than a whitewater rafting adventure. For a more vigorous, all-day trip, rafting down the Nolichucky River is offered Tuesdays from 6:00 am - 5:00 pm. For a more leisurely trip, rafting down the Watauga River is offered Wednesdays from 10:30 am - 5:00 pm.  Trips are conducted rain or shine.  Call the Recreation Center for prices, availability, and age restrictions.

Cancellation Policy:

• If High Mountain Expeditions should need to cancel a trip for any reason, a full refund will be given.
• Cancellations made at least 30 days prior to your trip will receive a full refund less a $15 processing fee.
• Cancellations made between 7 and 29 days prior to trip date will receive a 50% refund.  You may reschedule at no loss or charge.
• Cancellations made less than 7 days prior to trip date will receive no refund.

Biking
Enjoy a guided bike excursion for the entire family on the Virginia Creeper Trail. Offered Thursdays from 10:30 am - 5:00 pm. Call the Recreation Center for pricing, availability, and age restrictions.

"Mosey" Cone Cemetery Walk
Every Sunday night from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, travel with us to the Moses Cone Cemetery to learn more about the Cone family and tell fun ghost stories. FREE.

Family Night
Join the Recreation Center Staff on Tuesday nights for an evening of family fun and entertainment. Enjoy food and live music from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm with games until 9:00 pm. Please register with the Recreation Center by 12:00 pm on Tuesdays. Call the Recreation Center for pricing.

Dance Lessons
Kick off your shoes every Friday night from 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm and learn how to shag, salsa, or ballroom dance. We meet in the aerobics room by the swimming pool. FREE.

Magic Tricks
Every Thursday evening from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm, join Chetola's resident Magician in the Kids' Camp Room for magic tricks that will entertain both the young and the young at heart. FREE.

Arbor Night
Every Wednesday night from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm join us at the boat dock for live music and complimentary paddleboats on Chetola Lake. The Manor House Restaurant will be serving appetizers and drinks.

Fitness Classes
On vacation but don't want to give up your routine of Yoga or Pilates? We offer classes Monday through Saturday. Classes are $6 each. Please check with the Recreation Center for a complete schedule of fitness classes.

Holidays
We offer special activities on Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve. Some of those activities include Kids' Camp, Kids' Night Out, Easter Egg Hunts, 4th of July games, and ice skating trips for the Christmas holidays. Check with the Recreation Center for a list of seasonal activities.

Rental Equipment
We offer paddleboats, a canoe, and the flat bottom boat ($6 per hour), fishing poles ($5 per day), tennis racquets ($3 per day), and an assortment of the latest movies. Complimentary rental equipment may be checked out on a daily basis. The following rentals are available upon request: ping pong equipment, croquet, and board games.
