The Orvis Fly Fishing School at Chetola makes it easy and fun to learn terrific casting techniques while staying at our resort in the heart of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Bringing along a non-angling companion? There are plenty of leisure activities available including a visit to The Spa at Chetola Resort. There’s also an indoor swimming pool, yoga classes, fitness center, walking and hiking trails, the quaint shops of downtown Blowing Rock and Tanger Shoppes on the Parkway, just a few steps from the resort.

Arrival and Check in at Chetola Resort.
Evening: Welcome Reception
Saturday, May 14, 2011
7:30 am - 8:30 am: Breakfast in Manor House Restaurant. Guests will select luncheon menu (choose from three).
8:30 am: We will proceed to Chetola Lake where the morning will be spent introducing you to the correct fundamentals of fly casting. Following a short break, Orvis instructors will answer questions regarding tackle and equipment and you will learn more advanced techniques of the cast.
Noon: Lunch
1:00 pm: Return to Chetola Lake and learn about knots, fly lines and leaders, followed by another casting session on Chetola Lake.
2:30 - 5:30 pm: Immediately following second casting session, we proceed to Chetola’s Private Waters where your instructors introduce you to stream features, on-stream entomology (bugs) and present a short fly lecture. We then learn stream casting, mending and other skills on moving water.
6:00 - 6:15 pm: Return to Chetola Resort.
Evening: Free.
