CHARLENE BRIGGS (nail technician) has been employed with Chetola since the Spa opened in 2009. She was raised in Santa Barbara, Calif, and attended the University of Southern California, where she graduated with a Master's Degree, specializing in assisting in the O.R. Charlene started cosmetology to help pay for college and is fully licensed in California, Oklahoma and North Carolina. She owned her own nail salon in Oklahoma in the early 90s and moved to North Carolina in 1996. When Charlene first moved to Blowing Rock, she told a friend she wanted to work there because it is so beautiful. The opportunity arose and she has enjoyed every day of it. "It is not work when you do what you love to do. I'm blessed to have my dreams come true." She has four children, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
KAREN IVERSON (massage therapist) graduated from Michigan State University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science. She spent 25 years as a drug  and alcohol abuse counselor and social worker. She expressed her creative side as a stained and leaded glass artist. During this period Karen also provided Critical Incident Stress debriefing to emergency personnel suffering traumatic incidents. She went to New York with the North Carolina CISM Team following the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. In 2005 Karen graduated Caldwell Community College's Massage Therapy Program. Additional study and training in the healing arts include: Cranio-Sacral Therapy (pediatrics and adults, mouth work, CST around death and dying, somato-emotional release), Lymphatic Drainage, Reiki, Matrix Energetics, Zero-Point Field Energy, Aromatherapy, Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Pain Relief. Karen's favorite treatment is Cranio-Sacral Therapy because of its profound therapeutic effects. She enjoys finding just the right modality to help her clients relieve their stress and pain so that they may enjoy their lives more fully. In addition to working at The Spa at Chetola, Karen, who became Board Certified in 2013, maintains a private practice and has contracts with Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care and Google, Lenoir Campus.
DIANA LATENDRESSE (massage therapist and esthetician) began working at Chetola Resort 15 years ago. She earned her license at the Body Therapy Institiute and has been practicing massage therapy for more than 20 years. Diana received her Esthetician license from Mayland Community College and has been one of Chetola's head estheticians since 2006. Diana has lived in Boone for the past 30 years and has 3 children.
DIANNA LEE (massage therapist and esthetician) worked for 15 years as a midwife. Her interests grew to include aspects of a healthy life, family and community. One question guided her through years of training and practice: "How does the body heal?"  She then became a Cranio-Sacral therapist working primarily through Chiropractic and Physical Therapy practices. She has a license in esthetics and massage. Her passion and the key to tying all her experience together, as well as answering the question "How do we heal?", has come to her through the opening of the heart meditation and way of life. She has been facilitating workshops and classes for many years for massage therapists and in other related fields.
